You need a place that hosts

You need a place that hosts images and allows you to link them to other sites. Most of those sites have instructions on how to format your link for a forum. The sites mentioned above are good options and there is also photobucket. There are lots of other free image hosting sites on the internet. There are also lots of fairly cheap web hosting options around now, too. You could have your own website and gallery without the help of another party.

If I were you, I wouldn't post big, high quality versions of your images to any one of the free hosting sites. Some of those sites maintain the right to use your images as they please in the the fine print.

  • In forums, registered users can post images by merely pasting the image urls(max eight images) from wherever they are hosted.
    Example of url to paste: http://your-web-hosts-name.com/your-image-name.jpg

    If your images do not display some hosts such as PBase require you use special links or similar, to show images offsite.
    If posting from Flickr be sure to post the direct url including file extension(right click copy image location), not just the directory.
    Links with unusual special characters or that are extremely long, will likewise not display.
  • Web page addresses and e-mail addresses turn into links automatically.
  • Lines and paragraphs break automatically.
