I'm debating between getting the A300 and the A350. It seems like the primary differences are the 10MP on the A300 vs the 14MP on the A350. And because of that the Image Burst Mode is slower on the A350.

My question, if I bought the A350 and set the image quality to capture at ~10MP, I would assume that I would get about the same Image Burst speeds on the A350 that I would get on the A300... am I right?

Any other thoughts? The camera would be primarily used to take pictures of my kids (infants now, but they will grow)

I have read the manual and, as a newcomer to DSLR photography, I do not understand properly either how to use "P" or what it's benefits are. Originally, I had assumed that I could set things up, a bit like the scene presets for Portrait, Landscape, etc as P1, P2 so that when I was doing a particular type of activity, the various settings would be automatically recalled. Reading the manual, it seems that you can only have one program setting until you change it or turn the camera off.

My question: But first a little background... I started photography on an old Pentax Spotmatic...great camera !
Next up was a Canon Powershot G5...once again another excellent camera...
I studied hard, took a lot of shots, and feel comfortable with the general principals involved (priorities etc.)
Now I own an A 350 with the 2 kit lenses, plus a 35mm 1.4 Minolta and a 135mm 2.8 Minolta... the latter are excellent lenses !
I am not getting consistently clear focused shots !

I'm a recent newbie to the world of digital photography and am currently considering what camera to upgrade to.

I've previously owned Canon, Nikon, Pentax & Fuji, and my last camera is a " bridge" Fuji F602 Zoom.
I'm looking to got to the next level,......a DSLR system.
I have a budget of about £500 to spend.

I'm looking at the A-350 as a serious option compared to a C***n 400D or a N***n D80 etc.
Any helpful advice would be appreciated and also a reputable retailer to actually buy from, not just some internet advertiser.

I am a brand new owner of a Sony A350, replacing my KM 7D. I missed out on the deals at Best Buy, or I would have purchased the A700.

I want to setup an in-home studio for doing family portraits. I have already found DIY plans for the backdrop stand.

As for lighting, I want to go with flashes instead of continuous lighting. I understand that Alien Bees is the way to go, but my budget doesn't allow a full three light setup right away.

Plan to make many trips to the beach to capture my little girl haveing a great time. Looking for a reasonable all in one lens so I dont have to change lenses at the beach. I am a newbie!
