Hummingbirds and flowers

I think hummingbirds visiting flowers is one of the few things I haven't yet shot with the A700. The superior AF abilities of the A700 make a HUGE difference for this type of photography. Last year I was using manual focus for 99% of such shots taken with the A100. With the right lens it's possible to manually focus pretty fast, so it wasn't a huge deal. It's far nicer to be not to have to worry about focusing on your subject, though. The superior metering of the A700 also is apparent to me.

Beercan likes birds

Because Sigma is in love with the flowers, Beercan decided to love the birds. Here's few from today, C&C more than welcome, thanks for watching, hope you like them. All with minimum PP, a bit sharpening used with some pics + contrast added a bit/highlights decreased, because some got too much light from the sun.

Well, Sigma loves them a bit too, 2 pics with that. =)

Still chasing the early light

Taken just after sunrise. Hand held a700 ISO 400 70-300G . Humming birds are very active at this time of morning when the lighting is exceptional to photograph them.

Pics from Tracy Aviary

My bird kick continues. I've made a couple trips to the Tracy Aviary here in Saltyville. I cannot beleive I'd never been there before. There is quite a variety of birds and many are not behind glass or wire, so shooting is a blast. The Golden and Bald Eagles have damaged wings and can't fly, so they are just in a little pen with a three foot high fence and only a few feet from you with nothing in between. They were well within the minimum focusing distance of the 80-200 and 300. Very cool place. Enjoy the pics.

Little birds

All taken with the A700 and Sigma 135-400 APO. Goldfinches and wrens are here to stay, but the white crowned sparrow is just passing through. I wish I could have added a Ruby crowned kinglet to the mix, but haven't gotten a good shot of one of those. Strangely, I liberated one of those from some tomato netting two weekends ago.
