I just updated my Sony a700 to version 4 from version 1. Did I miss anything by not update versions 2, & 3

An issue with v4

I first noticed this line of color noise in my images when shooting at 6400 ISO. Since I thought it maybe only showed up at 6400 ISO, it didn't worry me that much. Tonight I did a lot of shooting between 1250-2500 ISO. Above 1600 ISO I can see two lines of color noise in my images that go vertically across the entire picture. The lines seem to mostly disappear with color NR, but it's pretty annoying to see them there at all. Has anyone else seen these lines in their photos?

A700-"Reborn" with new 4th version software?

I offer up this 3200 ISO image I did tonight in b/w.

Before this new firmware came out, I rather preferred using the A700 for all of my color work. Its dynamic range, color, and tonality are really one of a kind.

It seems with the new firmware that has been retained yet, the area I thought was just average (noise grain), has been radically improved. I will hold off on whether more detail is being retained or not at this point but it looks off hand like it has actually been improved.

v4 firmware will be officially released Sept. 16th

A300 Firmware Upgrade?

Was there an A300 firmware upgrade? From all the discussions regarding the A700 high ISO disappointment vs the similarly equipped Nikon, it seemed reasonable that a firmware upgrade for the A700 could be anticipated. Is there any anticipation that a firmware upgrade could offer such dramtic improvements to the 300's high ISO capabilities. The other area I would like to see improvement in the A300 is fps. Is fps something that could be affected by a firmware change? Possibly, shooting in a lower resolution to bump framerate.
