A200 Dynamic Range optimization not really doing much at all.

Having played with this feature a bit, have to say I am somewhat let down by the rather weedy effect it has. I remember playing with an A100 when it ist came out, and it had a pretty dramatic influence on the jpeg images. Not so on the A200, no idea about the 300/350.

Anyone else find this too?

I think we should raise this issue on the sony blog, maybe they can tweak it via firmware. A shame to see a useful feature, not do as much as it could.

Olympus Shadow Adjustment Technology

It seems Olympus has jumped into the Apical arena by implementing their version of DRO. Similar to basic DRO or Nikon's D-Lighting, Olympus is on the map now showing their implementation of Apicals technology into the Olympus E-420. Both licensed this technology from Apical a bit ago, and now we are seeing it in the DSLR lineup from Olympus, while Nikon has had D-Lighting for some time now.

Either is near Sony's Advanced DRO+ in the Sony A700, but it looks as though both companies have committed to this technology to a degree.
