The D700 hits the market, Where's the Flagship?

I just received an enews from Calumet Camera the Nikon Full Frame D700 is now available for pre-order purchase. $3000 for the body! $3700 with a 24-120 lens!

Nikon is about to officially announce the D700 "affordable full frame" camera set to compete with Canon's 5D for an affordable 12mp FF camera. A german magazine has already leaked the information, but another leak occured earlier this month.

I don't think it will hurt Sony, but stands a chance to hurt Canon's 5D replacement. Nikon seems to be aggressively going after Canon.

Sony's flagship will be in another league altogether is my thinking. Setting iteself apart into another category altogether. Sony stands to hurt Canon's big gun in my opinion.
