USB Control of Camera - Sony 300
HI
I want to take photos by pressing the enter key on my keyboard - really, just to be able to access the camera & shooting.
I really want to use it for time-lapse photography over a couple of days. Or to do other scientific sorta stuff.
How Can I do this using the USB wire or otherwise? I don't want to buy another piece of hardware, I only want a software solution. I could get an extra cord, but not another piece of hardware.
my first post on Alpha World!
Thanks for anything you know...

you attach the USB to the computer and press a button. then the image shows up on your computer.
The A700 has it. I want to know how I can get it for my A300.

I don't think the A300 supports that feature.
Sony A700, Sony A100(sold), Maxxum 7xi, and Maxxum 700si.

I bought one and I've been playing with it a bit. It is a piece of hardware, but relatively inexpensive at $90 and super easy to use.
I did an in-depth search around the internet and this was the only time lapse option for the A300.
Striving for mediocrity
Sony Alpha 300
This isn't a usb -device, but allows timer shots:

Sony α200 + Minolta 28mm F2.8 prime + Minolta 70-210mm F4 'Beercan' + Minolta 35-70mm F4 + 18-50mm Sigma EX F2.8 Macro + Sony 18-70mm kit lens
that way, when my camera is just sitting around, i can have it take pictures of the leaves once every minute of a rainy day, and watch them fall to the ground.
I probably should have done some more research; i just figured i would get this kind of control and connection to my computer;
I know some systems out there (e520) has a Software Developers kit, so that you can create your own program to take photos.
Maybe then next body I get will have this.
