A900 wish list
Besides all the things we have all ready been told, Here are I couple frills I'm hoping it has:
1) Bluetooth link so I can down load my images to my computer wirelessly and not have a cable to lose or break.
2) A way to link the camera to my GPS so I can record my location in the metafile.
What's on your wish list?
Dave
Body:Alpha 100
Sony lenses: 18-70mm f3.5-5.6 DT, 11-18mm f4.5-5.6 DT
100mm f2.8 Marco,75-300mm f4.5-5.6, 500mm f8 Mirror, 50mm f1.4
Flashes: HVL-F56AM, Bower SFDS 828
and a Ricoh GX200 for when I travel light

Why not GPS built in to the camera. Also an artificial horizon on the LCD.
Feature I'd kill for is a release price around, ooh £800, in October, you know, my birthday time, etc...
My spoutings are here www.blog.co.uk/carlosf
History lesson here http://www.sony.co.uk/hub/chronicle/block/1
My wish...
-24MPx FF base resolution in RAW and DNG and 5fps
-10.5MPx APS-C crop and 10fps in RAW and DNG
-12MPx FF from the sensor file in RAW and DNG and 8fps
-ISO 100-12.800, forced to ISO 50
-WiFi and Bluetooth in the body
-LCD HD 3.5"
-Two CF slot with UDMA compatible
10 FPS in a camera at/under $3k would be a heck of a feat...
I'd be very happy with full read-out at 5-6 fps (24.6mp FF), 12.3mp FF readout at 6-7 FPS, and a APS-C 10mp readout at 8fps.
Other things I want include:
A 3" LCD (any larger and it will take up the whole camera) with as good or better resolution as the a700 with even better coating/backlight/reflection technology to make it even better in full daylight.
100% viewfinder (more to keep people from picking at it than for my own personal needs)
decent weather seals (better than the a700 on the CF door and battery door)
a horizon level would be awesome, but much more useful in the viewfinder than on the LCD...both would be good, but just LCD would be useless for me (a non-tripod user)
better support for focus confirmation on all lenses, a useful "focus trap" like some other bodies have by accident
RF wireless remote
RF communication with the new flashes (hopefully 42 and newer)
focus assist lamp
Live view off the sensor for fine focusing, and maybe a separate live view mode that uses some voodoo with a secondary sensor, but not in the mirror housing (as it will have a pentaprism, duh)
User changeable focusing screens, with a couple of versions available for a reasonable cost
Interested in trying out a lens or using some G glass?

I'd only want a 10fps option on the A900 if done properly although I think it's highly unlikely. 10fps would require a complete redesign of the shutter mechanism which would add to the costs most likely. Also at 10fps the camera gets less time to meter and adjust focus, the last thing I'd want is a camera that goofs up the focusing at 10fps like the 1d mkIII. I'd rather have fewer, properly focused images!
I've just been playing with the D700 at work- what a camera! I hope that Sony manage to incorporate some of the feature that the D700 has, such as great responsiveness and excellent image quality. The virtual horizon feature is more than a gimmick, it really does work and I can see it being useful for landscape shooters. I also like the ability to fine tune centre weighted metering size (kind of techy, but useful nonetheless). The last thing that I really really hope they can do is incorporate the CA removal in JPEG. That is one heck of a feature, and could be a godsend for event shooters and the like.
Anyway, not long to go (if it is launched at photokina).

Why do this to ourselves? The feature set has long been finalized and they are just working out the kinks. Sony can't make any signifigant changes so close to release of the A900. This thread just sets us up for some troll to "dis" the camera, the system and Sony. Patience people .... the Sony universe will unfold.
But that carrot peeler seems like a must have.... ;-)

Bluetooth isn't the answer...it is too slow. There is technology coming out now specifically... wireless USB... (WUSB)

They stated "it would be suited for professional use" quite some time ago.
That it will not be the highest level of development possible. They want to create a base foundation of DSLRS first before they take it any step further, this has also been stated.
Now more than ever, this is important to understand. Keeping expectations realistically is key.
More to come ya'll!

I guess this means the carrot peeler will be sold separately or as an upgrade option?
LOL
