good news on lightroom

I'm very glad to see they're being this aggressive and already have a beta for 2.0! Very anxious to give it a try, I wonder what type of time frame they're looking at to do a final release.

I hope they've continued to add capabilities for third party plugins that developers can take advantage of.

and as an aside,
I wonder if anyone has a KM color preset that nails the KM color for Sony ;)

Ok well I now have the beta

Ok well I now have the beta on my pc...

Def a bit faster, though lumpy sliders. But its a lot more responsive loadinga and zooming in etc. Which is good, LR was ok speed wise, never super fast, this looks like it will be better.

Not mad keen on the selective edits, I know some will love them..at present very clunky. And I would prefer by far perspective and distortion correction over these. I can use other programs for pixel editing if needed and they do a far better job being honest (at present)

Output sharpening is good, def needed. Overall, have to say in its present form, its not a dramatic upgrade, though more tweaks may come. Interesting about the 64bit support, but I am on 32bit OS, and this seems fast enough for mere mortals. If you were doing MF digital backs, you might feel its worth that! Saying that using my dual core 2Gb pc, which is good, but not cutting edge, I imported a big 50mb + DNG film scan, and bar a little delay, working on the image was still fast..so that is pretty good

Gasp auto tone seems to work too! Before it was pretty naff...

And the plugin thing remains to be seen, ala what will be avilable, that could address NR and distortion.

So moderate thumbs up from me, though I did expect a bit more being honest.

Well least you have output

Well least you have output sharpening now, top setting maybe a tad strong though.

Shame you cannot add the borders exporting (maybe i am getting fussy), nor it would seem adjust the watermark size/placement etc etc (unless I missed something)

Click to raise

i'm curious about the new LR and exif

I find it extremely annoying to not have all the exif data available, that you can get with Sony IDC or a third party tool like exiftool.

Btw nice shot there Barry I like that.

Lol, thanks Eric that was

Lol, thanks Eric that was one of the "rejects" just a sample to show output sharpening (being fair LR needs this badly) Though the tones are not bad at all for that one.

I agree on the exif thing, I have the same with the Km, and have to use master to get the full information. Adobe are slacking a bit on some areas. Still least LR is moving forward a bit..something at least.

I am still waiting for the all in one swiss army knife software program that does what LR does, but a few things as well (would be real nice to be able to make and burn a real slideshow with LR), as it is..got too many programs covering similar areas..some doing a better job than others.
