First Pics :)

Hey all,

I've been interested in photography for a while and just got my first DSLR, an a200, yesterday and have since taken over 200 pics haha. Well, let me know what you think! (Totally open to constructive criticism, tips etc) I'm using the kit 18-70mm or 75-300mm. All of these are un-edited, just adjusted some for brightness. As you see, I'm big on motorcycles and cars. Also pretty passionate about track and cross country. I run in college and am looking forward to having a decent camera for some of our meets.

I've been having a hard time getting used to the a200 at night, seems like it tends to shoot a little overexposed? Easy fix though. Overall, it seems great though. Especially fast with the kit lens. Can't wait to get out and shoot more.

welcome adem, cool shots

Hey nice shots I especially like 2-5 with 3-5 being best of the bunch. I wouldn't have guessed you're having any night shot troubles from these! I assume you must have some background photo experience, if you're doing this well right off the bat with your first dslr.

Thanks for posting those.

Thanks for coming aboard the ship here! :)

Not many (if at all) pics of Motorcycles here yet, so it was refreshing to see these.

Appreciate you participating here, and curious to know more about what you think of the A200. I think for what it is, it is a fantastic little camera... to borrow a phrase/modify "its so easy, even a caveman could use it".

Cool shots, and welcome aboard.

Hi Adem

Welcome to AMW - you'll have plenty of fun here, the people are all helpful and as you can see the owners (Eric and Carl) play a very big and active part on the site-making it as good as it is.

I too share an interest in cars and bikes so really like these. All the photos are good but I really like no 2. I love the low down angle and the considered composition.

Very good. Look forward to seeing more of your stuff.

Cheers
Andrew

Hey thanks all for the

Hey thanks all for the feedback!

I am a huge fan of the a200 so far, but have little to compare to, the only other dslr I've used extensively is a Nikon d50. I really like the "FN" button, makes it quick and easy to change a lot of common settings. Also, the battery life is really, really good. I took about 350 shots, mostly non-flash, over the course of a few days and it was only down to 45% (another nice feature is the battery percentage indicator). That included a lot of on camera previewing etc. Also nice having spot metering, most entry levels don't seem to have this.

I'm hoping to score a job with my college newspaper as a photographer, so any tips are greatly appreciated!
