Good Morning. (obligatory first post)
Kudos to Carl and Eric. You seem to have the matrix for a good community here.
I've just succumbed to BB's indecision and bought an A700. I'm wowed by the handling and feature set. Whether that translates to better images remains to be seen, but I'm both excited and hopeful. The A100 was da bomb for 18 months or so . . . a record for me digitally *grin*. Hopefully the A700 will surpass that longevity.
I shoot mostly people . . . portraits along with portfolio development for ladies that wannabe models as much as I wannabe a photographer. It's a good ride . . . as demanding an avocation as I've tackled. With luck and a lot more hard work perhaps I'll get "there" someday.

Carl and Eric have created quite the website. I don't feel intimidated to post my shots as I would at some other places. Cheers to them.
I do look forward to your portrait work with the A700.

We cleaned the counter tops and wiped down your table for you. What would you like to drink? :)
Your comments put a huge smile on my face (both of ya's here). Our lives are pretty much living in a cave right now, we eat drink and sleep AlphaMountWorld to get it the best it can be, so hearing this just helps to keep us going.
Both of us love photography and our A700's. I see having mine for a very long time, it is definitely built to last.
Looking forward to some of your shots should you choose to post them :).
Eric and I have just started, there is more to come, I promise you.
Cheers,
Carl

Thanks, Carl,
*chuckle* Lord, I've been through a bunch of forums in the last couple years. From the gearheads at DPR (I know, I know . . . but you at least take pictures . . . good ones, btw) to various "Arteests" mostly (apparently) concerned with displaying their, ummmm, Deviations. None have had staying power to hold my interest.
I'm currently getting my photo fix over on Model Mayhem. In addition to the benefit of lovely ladies, there are working professional photogs in them thar parts, including some with truly impressive credentials. I've been shown much kindness and have been the beneficiary of much largess there.
I've lurked a bit here in AlphaMountWorld. I decided to jump in today. There is the start of a very good community here, I think. I hope I can add some small part in contributing.
Since folks really kinda oughta come clean, here's the current state of my dabblings: http://www.modelmayhem.com/BigHatPix

I'm no where near "arriving", but the journey has been challenging and rewarding. Helps to keep what little sanity I have left.

Been thru a lot of forums myself. DPR is my longest reign. Lots of good knowledge there if you want to dig a little.
So both of those links bring up various shots, are those all yours?
Tried clicking on a couple and said something about the member needs approval still or something.
Anyways,
On a quest, it is best to seek those who are heading in the same direction, and it doesn't hurt to ask questions from those who have been walking on that path longer, nor to specifically seek them out. I approve.

Thanks Daryl, and likewise thanks for your interest in the site. That must be fun doing the model photography, sounds challenging. Mayhem site looks interesting, I'll have to complete the full sign up so I can check it out.
Congrats on the A700 I'm glad you seem to be enjoying it as much as the rest of us with them are. Be neat to see what you do with it.
thanks for saying hello

Thanks, guys.
I thought Mayhem would let you in . . . I'm apparently wrong there. It would be helpful to hear what you've specifically experienced when you've tried to follow the links.
Thx,

After clicking on each link, I clicked next to the photo on the left, where it said 'x' photos. Good work by the way. The subjects seem quite at ease.
