Honeycomb metering with "non D lenses"
Interestingly (or maybe not)
I have only just discovered that if you use a non D lens on the camera, and manual focus. KM say that you are set to centre weighted metering. For D lenses you remain in honeycomb metering AF and MF. Maybe not much of a big deal, but thought I would pass the info on. I double checked my manuals, and they say the same thing. Also curious, they even state this for the Dynax 5, which does not have a user selectable CW metering option! Hmmm, well maybe it is true.
Not looked into the sony manuals as of yet, to see if they say the same thing.

As far as i can tell if I set to manual focus and have a none D lens on my 5D I can still stay in honeycomb metering.. I'll have to check my 5D manual.. But I have used T mounted mirror lenses also and have still the choice of spot, center-W or honeycomb metering..George
I did find this warning in the Maxxum/Dynax 5 manual, but not in the 5D/7D manuals.

You are right there is no mention of it in the digital manuals.
After a bit of experimenting, I got identical readings though, from honeycomb with non D lenses in MF, and with selecting CW metering. So one would assume that to be a fairly strong indication that it is using CW with non D lenses in MF. I could be wrong though. Its def using honeycomb with D lenses..how that exactly works, is not known!
What is puzzling, is that the film 5 does not even have a CW selectable mode! Hmmm...
