4 Kids, 4 Portraits - "contact sheet as portrait" series - Request Critique

A while ago, I solicited your guidance on the concept of "contact sheet as portrait" of one of my shorter friends.

Based on your positive feedback, I put together similar types of contact-sheet-portraits from the other kids at the impromptu "photo shoot".

It is was partly sunny out and became evident in some of the uneven lighting between each set. As long as I was able to moderate the photo's of each kid, I chose to keep the unevenness between the different sets. Also, at first, I tried to keep to a similar format as the boy's portrait series - a 3 X 3 set. However, after a bit, I felt comfortable with some variation because it allowed me to show more of the kid's personalities.

I'll gave our friends the regular portraits of their kids, as well as the prints of the contact sheet style of portraits.

Anyway, what do you think? What should I have done differently?
I just used window light; should I have used some additional lighting to bring maintain a more even brightness between the sets?

Here are some quotes from these four.

  • “My eyes are bubbly. That means I’m allergic to naps!”
  • “Yes! I finally got over my salad fever!”
  • "Grandma, you have old skin & I have new skin!"
  • "Remember when I didn't finish my milk and left it on the kitchen table at night. When I drank it in the morning, the milk was soggy.”
  • “One day, I’ll be brave enough to hold any bug in the kingdom. Even a bee.”
  • From the youngest - "I'm a little Tea-tot! Short & Stout!"

Cool series here.

Hi b shaw,

This is a really cool series and I think that as a concept the idea of a contact sheet style presentation works really well. I like the variety of sizes in the latter photos. I think that makes it a little less like a contact sheet.

Once again you have succeeded in capturing the expressions of the kids in these. Cheers for sharing these.
