Alien Landscape and creature. . .
The original image taken with an a100 50mmf2.8 Minolta Macro lens ISO 400. I used manual focus to obtain control of the zone of focus which is always shallow with macro lenses. To give you some sort of scale of things this sunflower is small about 4to5 inches in diameter. The green spider is hardly note worthy until viewed through the eye of a macro lens.

Very nice...Did you have to use a tripod/monopod? You must have closed down the aperture quite a bit? f/20 or smaller? I just bought a monopod to help things out...tripods are cumbersome.

That 50mm macro looks to be a great lens. I have never seen that kind of spider before.

Hand held, f:10 @ 1/640. I was just walking around the garden. I have a mono-pod and several tripods but did not use any here. I was getting down on the ground and basically practicing some low angles with flowers when I notice this creature and decided to try to capture the image. Thanks

I can't say I have ever seen a spider like that one either. I like the shot a lot. The less cropped one makes me think of a little machine walking towards a crater surrounded by tree like things.

I used to shoot them all the time. I have some shots that are pretty gruesome looking. I dare not post them.
They are fascinating, but REALLY ugly looking spiders (imo) and get quite large. Neat you found one on a sunflower though, it is an interesting contrast of color and textures.

Hello Carl,
Thanks for the ID and BTW the image got picked in the weekly exhibit at Dyxum.com Exhibition #47 is the one I'm in, which is a recognition of outstanding images for the week. It was a nice honor and pleasant surprise.
I hope its okay to refer to Dyxum.Com here? They are very dedicated to the Minolta world of photography.
