Longwood Outing
Hi all...
Joined a group of local enthusiasts (all members at Betterphoto) to spend the morning shooting at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Sq. PA
The weather was not ideal for outdoor shooting so we moved indoors into the world famous Conservatory building. It was very enjoyable time...
Here are a few from the shoot. As always; your feedback is welcomed and appreciated...

Hi Hapster,
These are really well observed studies and images "nested gold" and "new life thru old glass" really stand out to me. I think the quality of light in both of the images is great and both show an eye for detail and careful composition- especially "new life thru old glass".
Thanks for sharing.

Great images, great colours, great composition. Like I said, I love them all. Now, if I was to buy one I would have also chosen New Light thru Old Glass. The light captured on the windows from the outside and the light from the inside is just great and the blend of colours is so nice. I get a similar feeling looking at the B&W but not as strong as here. Having said that Yellow over Red makes a strong impact too.

Love #2. I mean...I really love that shot. The rest are good as well, but that #2 is just asking to be put up on my wall!
A200/A700
Excellent composition and coloring...I like 'Nested Gold' the most.

Number 2 does it for me. There is something totally counter-intuitive about taking a subject whose essence is colour and rendering it in black and white, but it works. The strongest element for me is the way the circular pattern of the flowers plays off the vertical pattern of the window frame and the rain.
I'm curious as to how this might look with a landscape orientation and the line between flowers and window shifted off centre. Were there more window panes to the left?

This is a different image of roughly the same scene...
Settings are about the same. This has been resized for the web; but is not cropped.
Let me know your thoughts on this one...
Thanks again,

It would work, I think, except for the very thick window frame. The dark band this creates down the middle is too dominant. Your original definitely works better. Just ignore me.
Speedy response though - very impressive.
