Mopar Euro Nationals.
Hi all,
Here are some photos I took over the weekend whilst I was covering the Mopar Euro Nats at Santa Pod. I took the A300 and 5D along, but never touched the 5D. The A300 performed perfectly and got me some really nice shots. I was using the Beercan and Sigma 24-70mm for these shots. Let me know what you all think, C+C welcome as always.
Cheers

These are great Andrew. I love the close up of the tail light. #1 could be the cover of a Stephen King novel (Christine)!

MOPAR type events were in Europe, how cool.
I really like the second and the third shots. That taillight shot almost looks 'km color' ish I would have guessed shot with the 5D. Thanks for sharing these.

Hi all,
Thanks for the kind words, it was a ball shooting these images. Allow me to say a little about them, the first image was taken during the burnout competition. This was a competition where the people were given 30 seconds to produce the best burnout possible and produce as much tyre smoke as possible. This was from one of the better cars. I kind of like the menacing look it gives it, especially as it's in black and white.
The second shot was taken from the press area, with the 24-70 mm Sigma lens. I think (not entirely sure on this- long day and lots of pics) it was taken in live view mode which enabled me to comfortably shoot from low down. I'd say about 20-25% of the shots (the burnouts mainly) were taken in live view mode. I was really impressed with the focusing on shots like this.
Lastly, yes Eric it does have a KM look to it. I think this may have been helped by the fact that I used the flash on this shot- nothing much, just a touch of fill flash. I also agree that a wide shot would have been nice, but the background was way too cluttered to be of any use!
Thanks for looking and I appreciate the comments.

I like them all. The only thing I might change is the contrast on the first. Maybe a little bit more contrast to bring out the grille and darker areas?
OT: How many old Mopars are there in Europe? I've sold a couple of Chrysler parts to Germans, so I know there are a few in Europe.
Sony A700, Sony A100(sold), Maxxum 7xi, and Maxxum 700si.
Like them all, I had to have a play around with No.1 though :) Could use a slight vignette but I think this works.
Hi Leon,
Cheers for that, it's much better and more like I was hoping the image would look. It looked a touch flat on the web.... The contrast boost really works. Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.
