Night Light with the 20/2.8
Here is one from tonight at Longwood Gardens...
During the warmer months, they have these water and light shows set to music on weekend nights. I was there almost an hour and half before the show began but still didn't quite get the best spot...

Hey hap... looks like another post slipped through my net!
I can't help but feel there's more to be had here... this is beautiful yet something more is wanted... no idea what though! Ha! That's me I guess. Beautifully presented as always.
Cheers Ed,
Iain

I like the soft colours and think you have done well with a difficult shot.

This is very nice one, beautiful colors and atmosphere. If I would change something, perhaps I would try a bit lower shooting position, so it means lowering the tripod, perhaps half meter etc. that would crop some of that empty space away and give more sky? Then I would remove that hot pixel/star, somehow it's the first thing my eyes start to look. :D But as usual, excellent picture from Hapster.

The water show is cool, but this photo doesn't do it for me.
To make this photo insane. Zoom into the bridge portion with some foreground water lights, purple water lights in the background filling the frame. Have two people on the bridge. Girl up on her tippy toes to kiss her man siloutted. Award winner?

Wow... you can dream em up! Though I do agree the closer shot would be richer in colour it would also be a much different shot as a result.... ohhhh but if that "kiss" were to happen I am sure the added bonus would surely be a mass of fireworks?

commenting on my image...
If I had a wider lens (or full frame) I may have been able to get all of the fountains in the one shot. Next time I will try it from a different location and see what happens. I am also trying to get tickets for a future fountain show that also features fireworks (that might do it for you DNA :) No one is allowed on to that bridge area while the show is going on...
I realize that I have fallen way behind on both my posting and commenting. Between work, a 70th bday surprise party, and doing a movie, there hasn't been a whole lot of time for shooting etc. Hopefully that will change here soon...
Hope you are all having a wonderful summer...

I didn't mean it like that Hap. It was good for what you were working with, but when I see something I always dream up something on a grander scale. Epic comes to mind, but more then not it's not realistic or possible at that time.
Fireworks would be nice!

not as clear as it could be.
thing i've learned about night shots on these forums, especially if you're using a tripod, set your aperture to f11 - f13, keep your iso at 100 and expose the shot for about 10 - 15 seconds,
you'll notice a huge bump in sharpness and color.
i'd like to see results if you try this.
i'm not sure if i'm indecisive or not.
