Ongoing signs project.

Ongoing signs project.

Hi all,

I thought I'd share with you a recent photo that I took as part of my current personal project on signs. I too it this Tuesday on my Minolta Dynax 7000i with Beercan and Fuji CP200 film.

Personally I quite like it as I like the way that the reservoir is visible in the background. I also like the slight movement in the tree's branches and leaves.

As always please feel free to critique the image and suggest any tips or tricks to make it better- I'm all ears ;-)

Cheers
Andrew

I like the sign shot

I really like the way you've framed the tree, and background as you mention is very nice. You can see pretty deep into it. The foreground is pleasing too. The only thought I had is it might have been looked even more pleasing if the sign was a bit closer, and/or if it'd been more straight, I may be wrong.

And I imagine the Police might have taken a dim view of someone straightening their sign for them, had they seen it :-D

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has some interest or fascination in signs.

Barry posted some here a while back, just in case you have general interest in those type of shots

It will be neat to see what others you do.

Cheers for the response Eric

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the response- yes I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes signs or has an interest in them! My biggest concern is that it would appear too ordinary or dull- glad you like it.

Re. your comment on the sign being bigger or straighter, I decided not to crop too closely as I wanted to give a sense of scale and also reveal the location the sign was in, and I also like the tree. As for straightening the sign, I've decided to shoot the project 'as seen' not changing anything. I agree that it might have made the shot stronger though.

As for the Police, they were nowhere to be seen, maybe they left the sign behind by mistake, or perhaps it was an undercover op..... if so then they must have wondered what the heck I was doing!!

Cheers
Andrew

Maybe the police were

Maybe the police were fishing. There were involved in a "Baiting" operation.

Good shot btw.

What I like about this shot

Is that first, it looks like film :)

And second, the tree seems to be hiding what is going on behind the scene and makes you wonder...

I am a sign freak too, but I keep those shots kinda secretive to myself and usually don't post them. I always take shots of signs from weird angles etc...

Maybe Ill share a few now, hmmm.

I think signs are a great feature to have in a photograph, especially when they add to a story, or in this case, create one.
