A shot I took with the A700 and the Minolta 24-85 Lens (I really like this lens now).

Thought I'd share, I really recommend going down here if you haven't been, or if you plan on taking a trip to So. California soon.

I think you posted this just

I think you posted this just to taunt me with your 24-85 :-D and get me to buy one. It does look quite sharp and this shot has nice color, sometimes it seems like there's more of a cast with some KMs but it could be my imagination. I certainly don't see that here.

Nice shot, I like the foreground especially, spray off the rock and blue in the center.

Is this from our trip down there, or a different day? I've got to get my pics uploaded so I can post them :)

Beautiful location Carl.

Nice to see some ocean shots. I have to sneak down to the sea now that the weather is turning to the positive.

Nice shot of the ocean. I

Nice shot of the ocean. I like the waves crashing on the rocks in the background. What DRO settings did you use for this?

Love this

I love this picture. It manages to be incredibly vibrant with simple colours and hues. It reminds me a bit of my own home part of the world in Ireland.

Carl - you really do have a great area in which to exercise your

passion for photography!

I really like the way the lines in the foreground draw you towards the birds and lead you to head down the strand to the end of the bluff out beyond the rocks and spray...

My cousin, also a shooter (D200 going to a D300) lives in LA and just spent a week at Yosemite. He has also done some street work at Venice Beach. Don't worry though; he is a real big fan of my A700 and another friend of his just got the A350 and he is impressed with all of the features. His friend bought it after seeing some of mine from the A700; but being a newbi to DSLRs, she wanted LV. Spoke with her last night, they are both wowed by the LV, but she is starting to get into using the OVF more... go figure...

Great shot

Hi Carl, this is a great photo.

Stunning scenery, you're lucky with where you live! I love the way that the rocks/lines lead your eye into the photo, and towards the reflections. The waves in the background are extra nice and give it a finishing touch.

That 24-80 seems like a really good lens and a great match to the A700. Are you using DRO on these types of photos, or was it an ND grad, or nothing just straight out of camera?

Cheers
Andrew

Wow, such reaction, thank you!

I am glad you all like this one.

I was working kinda hard to capture leading eye points all the while trying to maintain a natural perspective. I seem to have achieved that to a degree based on your responses.

Landscapes are the most challenging sect of photography for me when it comes to composition. I realized that even with a large scene a few inches one way or another can make a huge difference in a photograph, as will angles, exposure etc.

I appreciate all the positive feedback.

My only nitpick is that I'd like to see that splash a little larger and a bit more toward the corner (and of course a bit more cloud cover, but that wasn't really in my control).

Carl
