Well observed shot Olli

Hi Olli,

This is a really charming and well observed photo. I like the way the different elements from within the picture help frame the subject, with the archway itself, the two reflections of the lady herself and the pictures being reflected too. This helps to create a unique and interesting candid photo. I like the way she has turned just as you took the image, that's a nice touch.

Cheers for sharing.

Pretty interesting shot. The

Pretty interesting shot. The composition works very well IMO (good use of symmetry) . Keep thinking about b&w though, did you try it???

Thanks

Thanks Andrew. I was lucky with my 'model' who posed beautifully if unwittingly.

Barry, hadn't thought about B&W - it was the colours - and reflections - that I saw first, but I'll play around with it and see what happens. Thanks.

Hadn't though of black and white.

Hi Olli,

Just read Barry's comment and agree that the image could look very strong in b+w, I think it may also add to the reportage/candid feel- either way the shot's a winner.

Hi Marcel

Thanks for your comments. Glad you liked it.

B&W

So it's 3 in the morning here in Munich and my dog has a dodgy tummy so I've been late night walking. Being wide awake I decided to try to play with this pic and create a B&W version. I desaturated the RAW then edited it some more in PSE using what's best described as the 'I wonder what this does?' approach. Comments, criticisms and suggestions are welcome, but please bear in mind that I have no idea of the best workflow in PSE for producing B&W, nor am I entirely sure if some controls aren't counteracting others. Whatever I did I couldn't change the original pink frame created by the wall of the room I was in into anything other than a big lump of medium grey so I cropped it much tighter.
