Monthly Photo Contest - Architecture (Closed)
AlphaMountWorld has concluded its next Monthly Photo Contest. It is now closed. All participants entered up till 9-16-08 will be considered. Thank you for entering! Stay tuned for our announcement of our contest winners and for our next monthly photo contest!
The theme for this contest is Architecture. Show us your best examples! Remember that Architecture isn't just limited to buildings. Man made structures such as bridges, buildings, towers, planned communities, etc. all count.
This contest is open to all Sony or Konica Minolta Alpha Mount camera users, for digital or film images.
First Place winner will recieve a $100.00 Gift certificate to Amazon.com.
Please read the rules below, photographs submitted that do not comply with the rules will not be considered for the final winners or honorable mentions (if any).
Rules are simple:
1. Submit a photo in this forum post* from a Sony or Konica Minolta Alpha Mount camera only(we trust you), film or digital. Natural looking images that aren't obviously heavily post processed are preferred.
2. The image you submit must of course be your own original work.
4. One photo per person please.
5. You agree to let us possibly display a local copy on our site with photo credit to you. We'd of course remove it at your request at any point.
*Please make your entry no smaller than 800 pixels on its longest side, and no larger than 1280 pixels on its longest side. Please try to keep the file size reasonable, thank you.
The contest will start today, and run for 30 calendar days after. At the end of the contest we will announce winners within about a week, then start a new contest.
Any Contest Questions please feel free to contact us via Personal Message or the Contact form anytime!
Note: You must be Registered to post images and participate in the contest.
Sincerely, Alpha Mount World team

Ok, this is the "Ryan Academy" based in Dublin. The obvious connection is in the shot, Tony Ryan..who founded Ryanair.
Shot on a Minolta Hi-Matic F, with Kodak BW400 CN. I went for the contrasty grainy look here. (the film is contrasty anyway)
A few websites of Architectural Photographers & Portfolios.
As I started looking at my collection to decide which image to submit or if I needed to shoot something new, I realized it would be helpful to see examples from professional Architectural Photographers. Here are just a few of the many excellent sites I stumbled upon. Interestingly, I found that their work inspires me and intimidates me simultaneously. (I have a lot to learn)

This is a photo of the Transamerica Pyramid and Columbus Tower in San Fransisco, CA. Shot with a Sony Alpha 100 and CZ16-80mm.
Here is my contribution to the forum. This draw (?) bridge has been buing built for the last four years and now it seems there is the money to finish it off (well, it is an election year afterall!). This is in Naranjito, a small town in Puerto Rico.
I took this one this past Saturday, on one of my weekly photographic tours around PR. I took others as workers crossed the two sides of the bridge walking just on the steel wires sticking out of the two halves. But I like this one the most. I took it with my A700 plus beercan. It was raw and I used PS elements, just some levels and contrast, and then sharpening. That is all. Hope you like it.

I returned from a trip to Paris a few month ago. Before I left I bought my a700 and SAL18-250 lens. What a joy! Excellent all purpose lens to carry on a trip.
There are plenty examples of architecture in Paris as one would expect. However, rather than showing you a well known Paris landmark building I thought I will show you a ... construction site. If you manage to straiten the picture you would actualy be able to see what it would look like when it is all finished. Whether this can be considered either architecture or construction site I leave it for you to decide.
So, here is my first contribution to the site as a new member and my entry in this contest:
