" He must have used a good lens, these look really nice and creamy", then I read what lens you used (I go to comments last to spare myself from any internal interference in my impressions).
I really like how you are getting low and dirty to get your shots, and how you are constructing your perspectives.
Id be curious to see what #3 would look like if you did a levels adjustment by adjusting the sliders on either side of the histogram to give you more contrast. I see plenty of room in this shot for it.

going dang I wonder if this is the 24-70 heh, it certainly continues to show well for itself.
Very nice shots, the last is my favorite followed by the first. Nice work on what looks like a very low light overcast day, Thanks for posting those.

Boy that lens is a killer. I can only imagine how it will do on a full frame.

Hi Mike
That's a great series there, and that lens is just stunning, I want.....
I really like image no.2, it just has something about it which I find appealing, seems very well composed and considered approach. I also like the last image, especially the way that the tracks lead the eye past the train and into the image- great perspective there.
Image 3 is nice, if a little dark, a quick tweak of the levels and you'll have a winner there I reckon.
Cheers
Andrew
Thanks for the comments,You're right I should have posted this pic...I was trying to get some definition in the clouds and went too dark.

Hi Mike,
These brighter images look better IMHO. If you were trying to retain detail in the sky you did a good job. Have you considered doing an HDR version of the image. If you process the image 1 stop either way then you should be able to achieve a decent HDR-esque result.
Cheers
Andrew
I agree as well. Good idea on the one stop either way trick for HDR Andrew, especially seeing the success you're having with Photomatix and natural looking HDR shots.

Hi Eric
No probs. The HDR 'trick' can work well, but only if you use caution. It's not strictly HDR, but does well enough and if it produces a better result than by not using it- who cares?
I just thought that as he was trying to retain sky detail it might help.
Cheers
Andrew
