Ok I guess after being a die hard Sony user and with the latest offering from them in the compact superzoom arena feeling a bit let down I ordered a Panasonic fz28 today main reason leica lean 18x zoom new Venus Engine IV and it shot in raw. So we shall see, I have used the fz8 with good results sold it for a H7 ok nothing outstanding went to the h50 and was not impressed (imho).

in what results you get with that. Please post some shots converted from raw (and some jpegs if you can).
Agree on the compacts Sony is offering a bit lack lustre compared to the competition, too bad too! A V5 would be a seller (I think, my petition went to the wind..... enter Outlaw Josie Wales theme song....).

Ok I got my Panasonic fz28 today. I have only been able to take a few shots, more doing a few higher iso test shots and must say they have made improvements on this unit. It has a couple of features I really like. One being raw, and really overall performance seems very good (need more time and various shooting conditions). So far pleased!!

These shots where taken hand held using the 18x zoom in tele macro mode.

For a compact it is a good camera, but for what I want it just don't cut it. I took it back and picked up an A200 for my backup and daily shooter...

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for sharing these images with us and also providing your views on the camera, I think that they have a couple of really nice and innovative features such as the intelligent auto mode (that really works and isn't a gimmick). However they are always going to be limited on the quality that the small sensor can provide. You could see some evidence of smearing on the provided samples. It's a shame because the photos were really nice and if they could nail the IQ it would be a killer 'all in one' camera.
Cheers
Andrew
