Can you identify this?
I took a 7 mile hike today and spotted a plant that surprised me in how intensely red but I don't know what it is. Do you?
This was a marco shot with my GX200 (all these are shot with my GX200):
What is this?
I spotted this fungus :

Dave,
I sure hope that’s not what you cooked for lunch on your hiking trip. LOL
Euonymus americanus
Common name is The American strawberry bush.
You can read up on it more here http://www.floridata.com/ref/e/euon_ame.cfm

AJ,
I'll never remember that long scientific name but I'll remember it's related to the strawberry and I liked the common name "hearts-a-burstin".
You have won bragging rights.
Thank you,
Dave

It's called the bearded tooth and is edible. I could have cooked that. I showed the photo of the American strawberry to the folks at the Ranger station and they had no idea what it was. I did learn they are having a photo contest that I might enter.
