It's official! Ordered an a850
A very speical thanks to Dwayne (vois) for providing the information that B & H was having a $300 rebate on the a850 & 28-75 f2.8.
Also official..... I'm broke!!!! But happy. :-D

hey Eric don't worry Tuesday's just fine!! The good news is the B&H guys didn't lock down their server/store while out on vacation this week!!:) Yeah but too bad it's going to be an extremely long weekend. But feels good and more relax now huh that you don't have to keep thinking/comparing/checking-out cameras huh??!!
(uh no. Jim those are very nice too but way too expensive!! They also hold their value over 20 or 30 years like a Zeiss. Or I should say the Zeiss holds its value like those... hmm never mind.. they all don't. :):))

It looks like you really planed ahead by buying FF lenses and 850/900 compatible flashes! I'm looking forward to seeing some of your FF captured/DxO processed posts. I don't know if you are interested in getting serious about flashes; but if you are, you might find yourself buying some HVL-F58AM flashes next. I'm expecting my third one next week.

I'm sure it will still get some use on occasion, but I fear for most there's no going back from FF. Too bad I'm so happy with my 17-70 or I'd walk across the Interstate Bridge to keep your poor 16-80 company. Actually, I'd like to see the results of a FF body and the 17-70, so maybe one of these days we'll meet. Not sure I can keep up with you, since I see your posts on your many trips.. then again, your massive new camera might slow you down to my speed!
p.s. sure hope it didn't just fly into DC or Baltimore, that would ground it for sure..

Too bad I couldn't get same day delivery! :-) Just bought the Elite version on DxO so I can process the huge RAW files. A little bit of a bummer that for a $130 more for the upgrade there wasn't more film packs or editing tools.

Jim, I am going out this weekend for a farewell shoot with the a700 as my main camera. Not sure where yet, but the a700 and cz16-80 combo is one of THE best in the business. I'm always happy shooting. You will have to try it sometime. Also got my 70-300G back from Sony today so have to see if they did a good job fixing it.

and just to torture myself more I was playing around with one at the SonyStyle store over the weekend. Oh man I can't wait!! Looked at my credit card statement this morning...... almost fell out of my chair. Can I apply for bailout money????
The 70-300G did come back better than it was but I think the 700 focus is off, wish it had AF micro adjust.

Oh. No bailout available for camera stuff. Just close your eyes while clicking the pay entire bill button regardless of what amount shows up for the month. That's the way to do it - we use the card to collect one to five cashback points for the month, and then we start a new round of damage right after that!! That's about all the bailout we can get unless we're a bank, car factory or camera store!!
So are you going to open the a700 to mess with the focus? Somebody posted a DIY link the other day on adjusting for FF/BF but it didn't look too easy though.
Ok... another few hours and that package will be in WA state!!!

on the FF/BF issue. It wasn't too bad really, but as Carl stated evry lens needs it's own adjustment. So the 700 is calibrated to the cz16-80 and focuses fantasicly, can't say so much for the long end of the 70300G.
