-A700 Report- Shadow Lake hike in the Sierra Nevada
A long 17-18 mile hike (and dead legs), and roughly 400 images later, my A700 still has 25% of its battery life. This is after keeping it on practically all day, starting at temps about 35-40 degrees at 7:30 in the morning running till about 4pm. Pretty impressive actually.
I brought an extra battery on the hike, but next time I might think twice about carrying the extra weight. I thought for sure the colder early temps would drain it, but again, I saw no visible evidence of such. Since I had the extra batt. I saw no reason to "try" and conserve since I already knew how the batteries did in even colder weather.
The A700 is a champ, a tough versatile photography platform that is well suited for Sierra life. It never stops impressing me. My choice of a lens was the Sony 18-250 (after some internal debate), which also was a great all around choice, helping keep weight down to a minimum.
I'll post some images after I get a chance to upload some and look them over.
Cheers all

Sony just had to come out with 50 billion new products this year... now that the new stuff is reviewed, its time for photography! ;)

Ok here is one shot I liked from the day :) I'll follow up with some others later. No filters used at all. Just some DRO and in camera stuff. Minor crop after the fact is about it.

What is your typical post work flow? This one just pops...
I am surprised to see snow at this time of year, esp the stuff just above the water line at the far left of the frame. What is the elevation of the lake itself and those "hills" behind?
Nice work as usual. Looks like you had a great day for hiking / photography etc...

The weather looks so nice and cool there. You must of had a great time. Getting away from the PC for a time is good for the mind and body.

It is a great place to visit with some incredible falls on the last leg of the hike. Pictures are hardly worth of the experience, but I tried!

Never underestimate the power of DRO+, I always say. What amazed me was the fact that I didn't need to bring a ND filter or even a polarizer in this case, all day. In fact, I like the results more without a polarizer which is really unheard of for me.
Anyways nothing special just another sample from the hike in the beginning of our tour.

in this one Carl. The old dead tree and the shadow and high light detail brings this landscape all toghther. I do wish you had used a circular polariser to bring out the deep blue of the pale sky.
