-Flagship Is Going To Please You-
Would say something if I could but I can't so I won't, so don't try (don't ask Eric either, he doesn't know).
I'm telling you because I want (have) to vent my excitement.
I "predict" the flagship will complete the first mission Sony is on, to establish a base level DSLR foundation that they can build upon for the future. I predict it will do so with an exclamation mark. I cannot get into trouble for saying that, I've already cleared it with the tower Houston :).
You really really like your A700's?
Your probably going to really really love your flagship.
More to follow, July and August will fly by people.

I got information about June 30th, but this, maybe, about the FF CMOS sensores exactly...
Is about more than one FF CMOS sensor?? is this day??
Will be on the edge of my chair, when I am not taking pics.
The second post in mine...
interesting
anyone have a price for the flagship?
i need to know how much i should save
α100
Sony 50mm 1.4f
Sony 100mm 2.8f macro
Zeiss 16-80mm 3.5-4.5f
Minolta 70-210mm f4
Sony 56AM flash
No one knows. Most of the rumors put the price between $2000 and $3000. That leaves a gap for a A800 or A750.
Sony A700, Sony A100(sold), Maxxum 7xi, and Maxxum 700si.
I predicted a goal of 2399 to 2899 over a year ago and people thought I was crazy.
I don't know price from the new birdie, but I stick to my guns on my original guess. I err towards the pricier end. :)

June 30th, if UK mags state announcement by Nikon on that day, they will be a bit peeved if Sony try to trump it...
Anyone tried telepathy on Carlg? Experimental brain surgery? :D

Wonder what the uk price will be ;-)
I am thinking, if Carl is near the mark £2000+ maybe more, a good bit more. Let me know when FF digital is sub £1000, might get interested then.
I have a feeling Canon might drop a bomb..ala price wise, they certainly need something to shake up the market.
Sorry I block telepathy waves with aluminum foil wrapped on my head looking much like a Hersheys' kiss at the end result :).
Seriously folks, all I can say is the birdie was very excited, and an unexpected informer.
For those that don't care at all about price, and want lots of resolution, it's other features are going to be VERY pleasing to know/use.

What about noise?
Sony A700, Sony A100(sold), Maxxum 7xi, and Maxxum 700si.
I have the A100, it is noisy enough (just kidding!!!!).

Found this on the net. Ties into this thread. Cropped it and enlarged it a bit. This is a nice touch to the Flagship, say over the A700.
Obviously it is the same type of lever that the Maxxum 9 has that actuates a shutter to block out light in the viewfinder. Will it be more than that however? Or won't it?

Look here, in the page 9th in Image Sensor Business...
http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/IR/info/Semiconductor/2007.pdf
Tomorrow could have a announce...
On page 9 of the PDF it says Jan, 30th, not June 30th.
They are discussing the announcement of the FF sensor is all. Which they did at PMA, nothing will happen tomorrow ya'll sorry :)

Any news about lenses?
Sony A700, Sony A100(sold), Maxxum 7xi, and Maxxum 700si.
Topic was brought up very briefly, we didn't get into that very much at all.
There are a lot of rumors out there that seem credible however. An ultra wide and a 80-400 seem to be the dominant rumors.

maybe the inclusion of the backlit sensor?
an 80 - 400 2.8f?
could such a lens exist? I would buy one in a heart beat.

I certainly hope the flagship is more than an A700 with a FF sensor. It has been in development for quite a while so I would expect more. Nikon seems to have turned around a D300 with a FF sensor pretty quickly (although we don't know how long it was in development).

It's ok too.
What we dont see or hear is all of the cameras being worked on behind the scenes. It reminds me of the auto industry, concept cars being worked on in secrecy etc... only we don't get to see them in advance.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sony had 8 cameras or so on the drawing board in DSLR only right now. Same for Nikon and Canon.
And you have to guess if informants are in operation giving each company each other's skinny and what they are up too. Big money works that way.

Hi Carl,
I would guess that the Flagship will have the same viewfinder as the Maxxum 9 - superb 100% viewfinder.
More rumors...
1. 8/25 Canon announce 5D replacement (just announce)
2. 9/4 Sony Announce A900 with price 89900NT, USD3000, A900K with 24-105/F4G SSM price 10990NT about USD3600.
3. 09/1/16 Sony Announce lower end FF A800 with price USD2000 (body only)

Sony announcement August 14th
4th August 2008, 12:28 pm
SONY UK has notified us of a press conference to announce an ‘exciting digital camera’ on August 14th.
They have also said that full details will be provided soon. It is possible this will be embargoed - we may attend a meeting on the 14th, but have to agree not to publish until a date later on, perhaps in September.
Update: it seems there is an international Sony Alpha press trip on Sept 9/10th to Edinburgh. Members of the Euro technical press have been invited, as a two-dayer with a stack of nightlife (the Festival and Fringe have just kicked into action today) it is an ideal location for putting the Alpha 900 and new 16-35mm and 70-400mm into the hands of journos. But it’s one week after the Sept 2nd close of the Festival itself, with the fireworks display. The Fringe is still running.
Well, that’s 45 minutes from my door, and I am UK press not Euro press so probably will not be able to get an invite - or even drop in and join them for a drink, which is a pity, as there’s one or two folk going I would like to say hello to.
Apart from that it costs me over one working day and around £200 to get to a London event (I’d rather by invited to almost anywhere in Europe than London in summer…) but whatever goes, this is an essential launch I am sure, and not just another Cybershot across the bows of the enemy!

If Carl is a beta tester, he isn't much of one. I've been out shooting with him, and I can assure you, he was using nothing but the a350, a200, and a700 at that time. He doesn't know this, but I actually broke into his house and cloned his laptop hard drive...not a single "unknown" camera picture on it. Bummer.
