If I were you, I would hold out until Sony releases its new flash at the end of this summer or get the Sony Alpha HVL-F58AM. The 3600HS (D) and 5600HS (D) should also work with digital without going to manual power settings (AFAIK, the Sony HVL-36AM and HVL-56AM are just rebranded versions of these flash models.

A new Sony flash is coming out at the end of this summer? Where di you hear this? Do you have any details about it? I hope I don't regret my recent purchase of an HVL-F42AM.

Thanks for the quick reply cgarrard! The way AJ Gressette's post was worded, I thought there was ANOTHER new flash to be released. Thanks for clarifying and my HVL-F42AM will not be regretted anytime soon ... hopefully.
