Lense Alternatives.......
I currently have the A100.....Going to upgrade to the A700 here within the next month but I'm hunting for a lense to take soccer pictures with..... AT NIGHT I've "attempted" to do this with the 18-200 kit lense from sony but at the tele end just too slow I don't have the budget to go for the sony 70-200 G are there any other alternatives that would produce at least GOOD shots under night time soccer conditions?
Is an option, its pretty sharp at F4 @210mm and would be a good lens for that, plenty of light to capture there.

I second the opinion; the Bear Can 70-210 is pretty darn sharp at f/4 compared to lenses in its range and price. The Minolta 100-300 APO D is also a good lens. I believe Minolta made three 100-300 lenses. The xi, APO, and APO D. The APO D is the sharpest of these. You will find much better noise control with the A700 than the A100. However, and with that said, my first option would be the new SAL 70-200G/SSM given your ready to spend some coin.
