Sony A900 will be compatible with APS-C
I've long been curious to know if the A900 would have a APS-C crop mode. Per this write up by David K. it will be compatible with APS-C lenses. That's good news to me! I hope he is right.
"Because the Alpha 900 is designed to use APS-C lenses as well as full frame, it will be interesting to see what area the AF sensors cover. Will they be clustered centrally within the 1.5X image zone, or scaled up to work optimally with full frame movement tracking?"

Interesting read.
I think APS-C and the FF are a logical bet..not too hard to do.
Have to disagree on the 95% VF though, it's really a must have for a 100% one in this class of camera, likewise, 1/4000th sec top shutter won't do either. Not that you "need" more than that, but this is not a cheap puppy, and it would just look bad to have it too low on specs.
OF course DK points out that we dont know if its a souped up FF with a non mega price tag, or something that is priced at the high end. I suspect it will not be moderate priced FF camera, based on the 24mp alone...still think a higher than D700 price would be a tad risky though.
Lets just wait for the release however, I think that is best :)

Not sure if you had hair a year ago, but you must have pulled it out by now. Nothing worse than keeping a secret, I expect! I hope your suffering is ended soon with an announcement or two.. or more? No, don't tell us how many, we'd hate to lose you as a near-source :)
Soon enough we can all rest at night knowing what the specs are...and shortly after that, we can be resting at night with our a900s beside us. Time flies when you are having fun!

Exciting times for the A-Mount, but I do wan't to try and keep it real overall. It's fun to speculate, but everything needs to be balanced in my opinion. Sony has been under fire since they took over KM. I think there are some of us a bit tired of hearing it. But guess what? Sony will have a whole line of DSLR's less than 2 years after inception.
Canon, watch your ass.
