DxO Labs Launches DxO Mark
News by woodyjnr
DxO™ announced today its launch of DxO Mark™, a beta product which aims to provide detailed test information based on RAW data. Many websites base their findings on JPG output, which only tells us half the story. It is fair to say DxO Mark™ may change the way both the industry and consumers evaluate and compare cameras. DxO Mark™ is, in their words, "the first publicly-accessible database of objective and in-depth RAW sensor image quality measurements".
DXO Optics Pro now supports A350 A700 and more!
DxO Labs has released an updated version DxO Optics Pro (5.2), that among other things now supports the A350 and A700 with six lenses! Many of us here discussed(DxO: Still no change, no new Sony Cameras) the fact that DxO was slow to support the Alpha Mount, hopefully this is a sign of more aggressive future support.
Currently they're offering a free copy(electronic license) of DxO Film Pack, which Andrew recently reviewed, to purchasers of DxO Optics pro. You can also download a trial version of 5.2 as well.
Among other new features they state they've reached a new 'milestone' with their updated RAW converter's ability to denoise and preserve detail in ultra high ISO RAW images. it will be interesting to see how that performs compared to the existing software and methods.

DxO Film Pack - A Creative Review
A creative review by Andrew Woodhouse
(We'd like to give a big thanks to Andrew Woodhouse for contributing this review!)
Introduction and Features:
DxO Film Pack is a film simulation software available as either a standalone product or plug-in for Adobe
Photoshop® or Photoshop Elements® or similar, plug-in enabled software. Film Pack simulates the colour
and grain of some of the most popular emulsions ever produced. Some favorites include Fuji Velvia and
Kodak Kodachrome 64.
DxO Film Pack sells for $99 or if you are in the UK £59, this is a very reasonable price, considering the flexibility and quality that this product offers.
