The Alpha Advantage
Welcome all photographers and Sony Alpha Mount users!
Here we will provide a basic synopsis of why considering the Alpha Mount would be important to a new buyer, say over other DSLR brands. Not only that, but a reminder to those who have invested into the Alpha Mount the key advantages they should not take for granted. Here we have outlined some of the key advantages to investing into the Alpha Mount:
Easy to Operate Entry Level Models- The user interface and design of the A230, A330, A380 have all been designed to make the transition from point and shoot camera to DSLR easier than ever. These models are easy to navigate through the menu system, lightweight, affordable, and even include help guides for each menu item to aid in the education process.
Minolta Legacy and history-The Alpha Mount is heavily influenced from over 3 decades of leading edge innovations and patents from Minolta (and Konica Minolta) and its superior engineering and camera design team. This history and the addition of the finest and brightest Sony engineers deliver a 1-2 punch to the competition that shows in its product line.
A fluid DSLR system offering a totally unique and user friendly Quick Navigation user interface, in-body image stabilization, dust sensor cleaning, leading edge Advanced Dynamic Range Optimization technology (DRO), the 3rd largest lens selection of any DSLR brand (not including the Tamron and Sigma varieties), first-class ergonomics, excellent build quality, and most of all a great dollar-for-features value. All this translates into an exciting user friendly/feature packed brand that is simpler and more intuitive to operate and control.
Sony was first to have a completely compatible "body to body" DSLR system that any user will be familiar with from the entry level model all the way up to a pro level camera with the incorporation of the Quick Navigation System. In other words, all users of every level should feel comfortable navigating menus with the entire lineup of Alpha DSLRS from more so than any other brand. Why? It is a well thought out, easy to use design that doesnt change much from the various models. This should prove to be a major advantage to users over other brands.
30 Million + used lenses-In addition to the all the new lens models from Sony, there are Sony and Zeiss collaborations, Tamron licensed Sony models, and the independent Tamron and Sigma models. The older used Minolta and Konica Minolta lenses dating back to 1985 will also work on your Alpha System. Scores of great new and used deals are out there all over the internet, just take your pick!
Sharpest most advanced optics to date from Zeiss and Sony. The Sony/Zeiss advantage should not go unnoticed, take this advantage seriously. Having the sharpest, and arguably best optical quality and professional level optics at your behest should not be underestimated. This is one of the newer and important features of Alpha.
If you are new to photography or are just wanting to change brands and are considering a new DSLR, the Alpha Mount now offers an excellent high end system, suitable for beginners, advanced amateurs, semi-professional, and professionals alike. Our advice is to always buy what is best for your overall needs, and what brand is most intuitive to you. Handle some of the Alpha bodies at your local retailer to get a more objective viewpoint before you buy, you might be surprised at just how well thought out the camera designs actually are.
A full line up of DSLR bodies. For amateurs and enthusiasts alike Sony offers the uber-affordable and highly featured A200, to the ground breaking live view technology in the A300/350 cameras. And if you want a serious amateur to semi professional model, the A700 will fill your needs. Now all the way up to the new fully featured A900 full frame sensor model, Sony has a dslr for just about every level of photographer. And they will continue to grow.
