Sony gears up for the Flagship - The New HVL-F58AM Flash Unit
An extremely versatile new flash unit was announced today geared specifically towards advanced users, and as an accessory for the Flagship due any time now.
This new flash has a "Quick Shift Bounce" feature that enables the user to bounce the flash in angles that no other flash for the A-Mount has been able to achieve. The flash head can rotate 90 degrees left and right and also do the standard up and down vertical adjustment, giving you even more control, a really cool idea! This also helps you achieve the same orientation whether you prefer landscape or portrait style shooting.
Good news seeing more announcements in regards to the Flagship, and the continued re-assurance of new gear support for alpha mount fans. Will you get one? What do you think of it?

I am about to purchase a F42. Now with this being release in 2 months, I am not so sure I should wait for a price drop on the F56.

I have the HVL-F42am and have been more than pleased with it, the introduction of the new flash is pretty cool- several mentions of full frame in the literature so hints to the A900 etc...
Waiting for the HVL-F56am may be a good choice depending on the price you can get it for, however the newer flash seems to have all but eliminated the lazy eye syndrome- something the older 56 and 36 were known for. I reckon it depends on the price, if it's low then get one ;-)
