16.2 Megapixels- The A580, K5, and D7000

16.2 Megapixels- The Sony A580, Pentax K-5, and Nikon D7000

 Sony A580  Pentax K-5 Nikon D7000

Buyers looking at the current DSLR market are now facing the best image quality we have seen in an APS-C sized sensor to date in DSLRS offered by Sony, Pentax, and Nikon. This Sony 16.2mp HD CMOS sensor comes from Sony's semiconductor facility, two of which are custom ordered for Nikon and Pentax. The base chip itself is relatively similar in size and overall performance, but there are some technical differences between all three different versions used. All three of these DSLRS are using a similar chip and different processing in the camera and all three are producing excellent image quality results. Lets take a quick look at all three cameras to see what you get wrapped around this stunning sensor for the price.

Sony A580- ISO 25,600

Another little sneak peek from the upcoming A580 review. Multi Frame Noise Reduction has its benefits, one of them being for static subjects when you don't have a tripod. I recommend using the Auto NR setting for better results (more chroma reduction). The  same amount of Luminescence NR seems to be applied to both the weak and auto settings. Take a peek at this shot!
